You can save HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS (sometimes THOUSANDS!) over the "Big Guys" prices with NO sacrifice in quality! Why pay for their high overhead (sales people, telemarketers, franchise fees, national ads) and inflated prices when you don't need to?
And our water softener is a FAR SUPERIOR product compared to the water softeners sold at "Mass Merchandisers" at a comparable price! For example, the internal porting on a "Mass Merchandiser" valve is only 1/2", thus restricting flow and reducing pressure (11 psi pressure drop @ 8 gpm). Our Autotrol valve uses true 3/4" (255 series) and 1" (268 series) internal porting for full, unrestricted flow (only 2.25 and 1 psi pressure drop @ 8 gpm, respectively). The OTHER PROBLEM with these "Mass Merchandising" water softeners is the control valve. They have a "rotor disc" assembly, which is a friction plate design - essentially two discs that turn against each other (much like a clutch on a car) -prone to failure due to friction and abrasion. These water softener systems simply do not hold up in most areas because the rotor discs are easily scratched or etched from sediment in the water supply (sand, grit, scale from the city water main). These water softener valves require frequent service and re-building, but the Autotrol provides MANY years of trouble-free service!
And don't be "bamboozled" by the "non-electric" softeners out there (usually selling for over $2,000!). The Autotrol valve is extremely energy-efficient - it uses only about $2.00 of electricity per year! Be sure and read our "How Water Softeners Work" page to see other design differences! |
